Councillor Census

A Councillor Census has been conducted by the MAV after every recent local government general election, and collects important demographic data to enable the analysis of trends and the monitoring of changes in participation of elected members over time. The last Census was undertaken in 2017.

The MAV Councillor Census profiles the elected membership of Victorian local government. A variety of data about councillors are accumulated throughout the census including gender, political preference, annual earnings, education, employment status and marital status.
